Tech Report’s Editorial Policy and Mission Statement
Here are the cornerstone values that dictate our management and operations, but also the ‘why’, ‘how’, and ‘what’ of our editorial process.
Journalistic Ethos
We work according to journalistic standards and ethical best practices:
- Good content takes time. That’s why we create and review our content with accuracy and truthfulness in mind. Our editorial staff properly researches all the facts associated with a topic and we have a strict no overtime policy.
- If a fact cannot be verified, we don’t treat it as reality. Corroboration is a key part of the process.
- Everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with respect, regardless of our personal opinion.
- We do not hide our personal opinions. We’d rather readers know about them alongside the facts, so they can judge for themselves.
Affiliate Disclosure
We are entirely independent and rely on an affiliate business model at no cost to the consumer. Our goal is to thrive in the long-term, which is why reader trust is more important to us than slight increases to our monthly revenue.
We never change a vendor’s position in our lists just because they want us to. We can re-test and re-assess in light of product updates or improvements, but better business deals have no impact on our editorial process:
- Vendor recommendations are the result of the research, data, fact-checking, and the hands-on experience of the individual writers and editors interacting with the product.
- The editorial staff adhere to an extensive set guidelines for product testing, content creation, and content publishing.
- We rely on reputable, authoritative sources to verify third-party statements and allegations.
In a digital age where both readers and advertisers are disillusioned with search engines and AI content, we know that the better we inform, educate, and address reader questions, the more authority we’ll have as a source.
Human Writing and Editing, Hands-on Product Testing
While we don’t expressly ban anyone from our editorial staff from using AI tools, our content is all written, edited, and fact checked by our human team. We believe it’s the only way to create high-quality content you can trust.
All our authors test the products and services we review, this is central to how we develop our content to provide you with unbiased feedback.
If a feature impressed us, sometimes did not work, or was completely broken, we won’t shy away from telling you that – this is our commitment to you, the reader.
No Political Affiliation
In an age of heightened political polarization across the world, the only side we take is that of the individual.
Political bias has no place in our content unless we’re strictly discussing changes in the social contract of one jurisdiction or another, like the right to privacy, as well as the implications that might arise from such modifications.
Continuous Improvement
We welcome and appreciate feedback from both readers and professionals. We may not agree with everyone, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn from them.
We’re committed to improving ourselves and our processes based on the feedback we get.
Individual Commitment and Pride In Our Work
Last, but certainly not least, we publish content we’re proud of: links we’d include in our track record and CVs, articles we’d happily share with our colleagues, friends, and family, knowing we advised them for the better.
Personal accountability underpins every step of our content operations, from ideation to publication, and every contributor is expected to take responsibility for their part.
We Read Every Single Comment
Don’t hesitate to reach out or comment on our work. We read every single comment even though we can’t publish some of them due to link spam, language, or promotional attempts.
Thank you for being our reader! We honestly appreciate your support.
